‘Play the trump card:’ A strategy for President Trump in Iran negotiations

‘Play the trump card:’ A strategy for President Trump in Iran negotiations

On Thursday, a provocative strategy for negotiating with Iran was unveiled through a YouTube video, where the concept of “the Trump card” was introduced.

Tom Trento, a prominent Christian conservative activist and founder of The United West, is known for his outspoken views and influential radio and web show regarding Islamists.

In the video and a subsequent discussion with American Family News, he elaborated on how his understanding of Islamic leadership, particularly within the Shiite in this context, shaped his proposal, aiming to empower President Donald Trump in the complex geopolitical landscape with Iran.

Trento, Tom (The United West) Trento

For Trento, it is evident to everyone that Trump is expressing frustration toward Iran, as he issues warnings about possible imminent strikes on Iranian targets and contemplates reestablishing a U.S. naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz. Voicing his frustration with the failed ceasefire agreement, the President recently remarked about Iran, “There’s something wrong with them. They’re cuckoo. As far as I’m concerned, it’s over. So, I don’t like them at all. And, frankly, I think we waste a lot of time with them. I think we should just do our business.”

As he told his YouTube audience, Trento also tells AFN, “I have a suggestion for President Trump that will change the game and enable him to take charge of the negotiations.” He explains, “It’s time for the most powerful leader in the world to pull his ‘Trump’ card,” which will give the President of the United States a decisive advantage over Iran.

“Stop negotiating with the minions of the Islamic Republic and call their Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei to center stage,” Trento insists. “This is what will flip the script and change the paradigm. If the Ayatollah truly holds power over the entire nation, challenge him on it and insist that he address the public as the alleged messenger of Allah.”

According to Trento, “The President needs to personally inform Khamenei that he’s fed up with this nonsense and no longer wishes to communicate with his underlings and functionaries.”

This is “the Trump card,” explains Trento. “Bring the Supreme Leader forward; if not, it’s time for a candid discussion with War Secretary Pete Hegseth and the Generals to put a stop to the unending conflict masked by unsuccessful negotiations.”

Big Benefits

If Khamenei fails to present himself publicly as the leader of the Islamic Republic, he argues, it will create a significant psychological edge, as “the Iranian people will come to see that their so-called fearless leader is nothing but a facade, obstructing their path to a better future while remaining hidden.”

In conclusion, Trento’s bold strategy emphasizes the need for a decisive shift in U.S.-Iran relations, advocating for direct engagement with Iranian leadership to expose weaknesses and foster transparency.

By challenging Khamenei to step into the public eye, he believes that not only can the U.S. reclaim the narrative, but it can also encourage the Iranian populace to reassess their leadership. The ultimate goal remains clear: to bring about a resolution to the ongoing conflict and pave the way for a more stable future in the region.

“Play your trump card, President Trump,” Trento advises.
