After the primaries ended last week, AFN reported that two winning Democrat candidates, Darializa Avila Chevalier and Claire Valdez, are card-carrying members of Democratic Socialists of America.
A third candidate, Brad Lander, was heavily supported by the DSA’s political machine and was endorsed by the DSA’s most famous member, Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
Among the most controversial candidates is Chevalier, whose job experience is mostly years of graduate school courses and community activism.
When not studying for a Ph. D, she has a history of writing social media posts advocating for seizing private property and taking over private corporations, and “abolishing” international borders, the prison system, and police and law enforcement.
Democrat strategist James Carville, most famous for working in the White House for President Bill Clinton, is also famous for not holding back his opinion. He called Chevalier’s socialist views a “bridge too far” for the Democratic Party and said the political party should not welcome her in its caucus on Capitol Hill.
"I don't have anything in common with someone that says that they're against interracial dating or doesn't want to have any incarceration for convicted felons,” Carville told Fox News.
Bolsheviks vs Mensheviks
AFN also reported last week that Mayor Mamdani is being called a "kingmaker" for backing three socialist challengers who all defeated liberal incumbent Democrats.
In the halls of Congress, in both parties, incumbents are rarely opposed by their own party due to party allegiance and seniority.
At the campaign watch party for Valdez, however, campaign volunteers chanted “You’re next! You’re next!” when House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries appeared on a TV screen during a CNN interview.
This emerging rift in the Democratic Party mirrors the internal fight in the Soviet Union itself. At the turn of the century, many revolutionaries favored a fast and violent revolution to punish the wealthy under Vladimir Lenin. A more disciplined minority, who held political power, wanted to move toward socialism in gradual steps.
That power struggle between the Bolsheviks and the Mensheviks climaxed in 1918, when the Bolsheviks seized power in a coup and began to eliminate the resistant Mensheviks.
Fetterman slams 'dirtbag Left'
Carville, who is also known for his profanity-filled complaints about the Republican Party and President Donald Trump, said many other Democrats agree with his views on not welcoming open socialists.
One of those Democrats is Sen. John Fetterman, the independent-minded Pennsylvania senator. He called last week’s primary wins in New York City a “huge night for the dirtbag Left,” because the candidates are embracing communism and have an open hatred toward the United States and the West itself.
Fetterman, who is a vocal defender of Israel’s military fights against its Arab enemies, also said being anti-Israel and pro-Hamas seems to be a requirement for getting elected as a Democrat.
AFR talk show host Jenna Ellis told American Family News that Democrats, such as Carville, are like a lonely voice in the wilderness. Most of the party, she said, only sees Democrats winning and helping the party flip power in Congress.
“They're not principled, quite frankly,” she said. “The leadership within the Democrat party is not calling out the extreme socialists. They're just happy a ‘D’ is winning on any ticket.”
