An election integrity advocate says it's good and potentially telling that a Republican has purchased the controversial voting machine company.

Dominion Voting Systems was at the center of controversy in the wake of the 2020 election. Contending the results were manipulated in favor of Joe Biden, Donald Trump's campaign has pushed for scrapping the machines and transitioning to same-day, in-person voting using paper ballots.

Columnist Robert Knight says the machines' final voting tallies did not make sense when matched with registered voters and the turnout.

"But for some reason, that hasn't been presented in a fashion that will persuade a jury or judge that action needed to be taken against the providers of these voting systems," he laments.

Now, Missouri-based Scott Leiendecker, a former Trump election official, has purchased the Canadian-based company for an undisclosed amount and changed the name to Liberty Voting.

This is the same man who he created a software program focused on enabling election workers to verify voters and check them in at polling locations. KNOWiNK, his company that describes itself as the "nation's leading provider of electronic poll books," says its systems are used by election officials in more than a third of U.S. states.

Dominion machines were used by 27 states during the 2024 election.

Knight notes that Leiendecker says he will push for paper ballots.

"I think it's good news that Dominion Voting Systems has been sold and there'll be new management pledged to ensure that they'll be no shenanigans," he tells American Family News.

He is interested to see whether the Democrat-controlled jurisdictions will reject the machines under new ownership.

"If they do that, then they will be admitting that the machines could indeed be rigged," Knight reasons. "The fact that the new owner is pushing for paper ballots as the final determinant in any election tells me that he believes the machines could have been rigged."

As part of the deal, Liberty officials asked Dominion to settle several defamation lawsuits against Trump allies who attacked the company over the 2020 election results, and in recent weeks, Dominion has reached undisclosed settlements with former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, former Trump lawyer Sidney Powell, and One America News Network.
