New Yorker spots silver lining with growing support for socialist Mamdani

A New York State pro-family leader says there is a silver lining if far-left wing Zohran Mamdani is elected mayor of New York.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul has jumped on the Mamdani bandwagon, announcing her endorsement of the radical leftist mayoral candidate, reports Gateway Pundit. In an opinion piece in the New York Times, Hochul said that she trusted Mamdani would not surrender "one inch" to President Donald Trump. She revealed that she has conversed with Mamdani and, while not agree on everything, is confident that he is the leader the city needs.

Hochul posted on X her endorsement to Mamdani, saying, “New York City deserves a mayor who will stand up to Donald Trump and make life more affordable for New Yorkers.”

Even Democrats are hesitant to endorse the man who is a self-proclaimed Communist and Islam supporter. However, Maryland Democrat Senator Chris Van Hollen also has thrown his support behind Mamdani and has chastised Democrat leaders who have so-far refused to do so.

Jason McGuire is president of New York Families Foundation.

"Now we are on the verge of having a socialist installed as the mayor of New York City. If you live in New York City, that's really challenging for you right now because you know what those progressive policies are going to do to your city. That's going to be really challenging for people that live in the belly of the beast there in the Big Apple," says McGuire.

But McGuire says that people who are outside of New York City may see things a little differently.

"Because you realize that we're now going to see what socialism will do to an American city, and that will likely drive many voters to more conservative candidates. So, people outside the city perhaps see a silver lining in how they can use this in the upcoming midterm elections," says McGuire.
