A former Texas Republican leader says Jasmine Crockett is a loose cannon and could lose her congressional seat even without redistricting.

Democrat Texas Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (shown above) has immersed herself in the middle of the redistricting battle as Republicans in the state legislature are poised to approve new congressional boundaries that could net five new Republican seats in the U.S. House.

That would be a huge positive impact for the GOP in next year’s mid-term elections and would greatly influence committee majorities, legislative agendas and federal oversight.

The proposed new map would kick Crockett out of her district. The outspoken critic of President Donald Trump and a rising star in the Democrat Party called the redistricting effort "a power grab to silence voters."

Cathie Adams is a former chairman of the Republican Party of Texas.

"Jasmine Crockett is a loose cannon. She already has an opponent, and so Jasmine Crockett could lose her seat even with the current lines as they are drawn because there is a gentleman who is running against her who has a military background. He is a very stable individual, a very, very nice individual, and I think the people in that district may elect him and un-elect her because she is a loose cannon."

Other targeted Texas districts include Austin, Houston and South Texas.

The Texas Tribune reports that the proposed redistricting plan would decrease by one the number of Hispanic-majority districts and would eliminate black-majority districts.

The story has dominated headlines with Texas Governor Greg Abbott (shown above) vowing to oust Texas Democrats who have fled the statehouse to prevent the GOP pushing the plan through to become law.

Also, one Republican lawmaker says his party is at fault for not effectively using its statehouse majority.

Adams thinks people in the city of Dallas are growing tired of Crockett.

"I think people in the city of Dallas are fed up with her mouth and her lack of attention to her district. She is more interested in becoming a rock star around the country with her jargon and absolute craziness that she is espousing across the country."
