Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy from Cincinnati held a town hall meeting to address the violent events in the early morning hours of July 26th.
"There was a group of people, going out in their city, who were violently attacked by a violent mob in the city of Cincinnati. There have been multiple people arrested and charged since then,” Ramaswamy reports.
Fox News reported on the incident regarding a brawl in downtown Cincinnati around 3 A.M. The fight gained national attention after video of the event circulated the internet. It is unclear how the altercation began, but the video shows a large group attacking several individuals.
Overall, six civilians were injure. A male victim was reported to have been yelling racial slurs and possible provoked the attack by slapping the perpetrator beforehand. One woman, who attempted to break up the fight, was assaulted and knocked unconscious.
Out of 100 witnesses, only one called 911 and only after the fight ended. The FBI confirmed that they are working with Cincinnati police on the investigation, and since the fight, multiple people have been arrested and charged.
Ramaswamy called the town hall meeting to offer solutions to make occurrences such as this less likely to happen again.
“We're not here to talk about and re-adjudicate the events of that evening. That's going on independently, but we are here to do is to talk about how we end the epidemic of violent crime spreading across this city," Ramaswamy says.
As reported by WCPO, Ramaswamy called the town hall an “apolitical attempt to find solutions to violence” and stressed the need for accountability to be brought back on all levels. He proposed several ways to as such, including using the bail bond system to keep repeat offenders in jail and hiring officers to actually do their jobs.

Tom Zawistowski is president of the Ohio-based We the People Convention.
"I think he is showing some leadership and painting a picture of a path forward and painting a vision of optimism about ‘yea, we have problems, but we can fix them’," says Zawistowski.
The conservative leader says that's really important.
"For too long starting with Obama, you can't do anything unless government helps you. You're helpless. Well, that's not the American way, and I think this town hall is really talking about ‘let's put our shoulders to the wheel and let's do things to make things better’,” Zawistowski explains.
He points out that this is an attributed needed more and more of today.
“We need more of that because there's a defeatism that just emanates from the Democrat socialist communist that is devastating to anyone who is under their rule,” concludes Zawistowski.
