The emergence of New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani on the national political scene has brought on much discussion about how far left the Democrat Party has moved. Mamdani, who has very little political experience, has pushed what many believe is a communist agenda.
Constitutional Mark Levin has recently published a new book called On Power. During an interview on Fox News, Levin stressed that there are two kinds of power, positive and negative.
"Positive power is Americanism. It is the fusion of faith, the Judeo-Christian principles, and the Enlightenment. Locke, Montesquieu, and others who taught us how to apply these principles, these beliefs, in an earthly level and to form a civil society, a government that represents and nurtures the civil society," explains Levin.

But Levin says Mamdani pushes negative power.
"For instance, Mamdani talks about taking over the means of production. From whom? From us. From the guy that makes the pizza, from the guy that makes the steel, from the guy that makes whatever he makes. It doesn't matter,” Levin states.
He continues to say that Mamdani is talking about eliminating the private housing market.
“But what does that mean? Government controls housing. Government controls the means of production. He talks about affordability. Do you know a single Marxist society that's affordable? Their shelves are empty," Levin informs.
Furthermore, Levin states that Marxism is incompatible with Americanism. The Declaration of Independence is, what he calls, the most concise document on positive power as it credits God-given unalienable rights and liberty for the individual, which Marxism rejects in favor of government control. The fight between power in the country is, therefore, a battle between liberty and rights.
Levin concludes by adding that voting doesn't insure liberty.
"Democracy does not ensure liberty. The proper application of power ensures liberty. So, authoritarian democracy is what this Mamdani is really running on, an all-powerful government,” Levin says.
