The Irish capital of Dublin is still reeling following last week's brutal attack of a 10-year girl. A 26-year-old illegal alien from Africa who had been ordered deported from the country has been charged.
Riots broke out around the city.
The girl was under the care of Tusla, Ireland’s child protection agency.
The suspect was still housed in an asylum center, fueling public anger over perceived government failures in enforcing immigration controls.
Bryan McCarthy is an Irish author who says the Irish government just let the floodgates open. He was a recent guest on American Family Radio.
"A successful western country that has so-called refugees coming into it, who all happen to be male, who also happens to be military-aged, who all happen to be wearing nice clothing, nice shoes and they all get put up in a hotel."
McCarthy says it does not compute.
"And people who have paid tax all their lives in Ireland, people who struggle to get government services are just beginning to ask questions. Why are we bringing in people who have nothing to do with our island … geographically, religiously, culturally, economically?"
Protesters, numbering over 500, attacked police with bottles, bricks, and fireworks, set a Garda van on fire, and clashed with riot officers, resulting in six arrests.
McCarthy says the people have had enough.
But people may need to go through the back door, drawing the attention of other nations, to get their leaders to respond.
“We are going to push back against the government from outside because their wallet will be squeezed by people who have influence around the world,” McCarthy said.
