We need to be a law-and-order state and a law-and-order country.

That's what the governor of Oklahoma said after authorities found many illegal immigrants driving 18-wheelers.

During an effort on Interstate 40 known as Operation Guardian, Oklahoma state police officers encountered more than 500 people and turned 120 over to ICE.

Some of the offenders had unverifiable licenses for the big rigs they were driving.

Governor Kevin Stitt (R-Oklahoma, shown left) told Fox News Channel's "America Reports" program that you cannot do that in his state.

"To drive on roads in Oklahoma, you have to read and understand English,  especially the people driving 18-wheelers," said Stitt.

Oklahoma agents “pulled over 520 vehicles at one of our checkpoints as an operation and over close to 25% of these drivers were illegally driving, they were from China, Russia, Venezuela,” he added.

Stitt said these are not people here legally with a legal CDL, rather people that had overstayed their visas and or illegally obtained their CDL.

"One person from New York had literally been detained at the southern border crossing illegally in 2023 and then was just released," said Stitt. "It was a catch and release type deal and then showed up in New York and he had no given name. I'm not trying to call anybody out. I think the American people need to understand this is a problem, and we have to be a law and order state and a law and order country."

Oklahoma’s Operation Guardian plan states that the state currently houses about 525 undocumented offenders in its prisons, costing $36,000 per day.

The plan alleges that 30% of those crimes are violent offenses against children, 20% violent assaults, 14% homicides or other violent deaths, and 7% sex crimes. It notes that most offenders are from Mexico (72%), followed by Guatemala, Honduras, and Vietnam.
