Planned Parenthood cut from Medicaid funds, pro-abortion continues to speak out

Supporters of abortion continue to speak out against Medicaid cuts for abortion providers.

The defunding of Big Abortion is called for in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The Trump administration, along with members of Congress, do not want taxpayer dollars going to health care facilities that also perform abortion. Critics of that move argue that it will deny women access to health care, and legal challenges have been filed.

Tobias, Carol (NRLC) Tobias

Carol Tobias of National Right to Life Committee told AFN that women have many options when it comes to getting health care.

"There are thousands of federally qualified health companies, clinics, and hospitals that will be able to provide those services. Our tax dollars do not need to be going to an organization that kills unborn babies. Other health care services are available," says Tobias.

Other pro-life groups and publications have said as much, including Susan B Anthony Pro-Life America, Live Action, and Life News.

Last Thursday (9/11/25), a U.S. appeals court panel allowed the Trump administration to block Medicaid funds to Planned Parenthood while legal challenges continue, reported the AP.

This goes against the federal judge ruling in July that said that Planned Parenthood clinics nationwide must continue to be reimbursed for Medicaid funding as the nation's largest abortion provider fights Trump's administration over efforts to defund the organization in his signature tax legislation.

"This was a wonderful decision, but it was totally expected. Congress passed a bill to say, ‘We're not going to spend money in this manner. We're not going to spend money giving it to organizations that kill unborn babies.’ Congress has the authority to do that,” says Tobias. “A federal judge saying they can't spend their money that way or make decisions on their money that way was totally ludicrous."
