According to NewsBusters, MS Now’s “The 11th Hour” hosted a panel discussion following Sen. Ted Cruz's (R-Texas) speech to the GOP Midterm Convention in Dallas last week, in which Cruz condemned the Democrat Party's embrace of Islam and Sharia law as endorsed by Senate Candidate Abdul El Sayed.
Panelist John Fugelsang (featured below), a political commentator who identifies as a progressive Christian, found a way to sound like he was attacking radical Islam, but he also painted Christians and Jews with the same broad brush.
“It's the right wing of every religion that's ruining every religion. It is the extreme fundamentalist Muslims and Jews and Christians that are ruining the brand of Islam, Judaism and Christianity,” Fugelsang said.
Instead, he said Christians should look to the heretic James Talarico for their lead.
“James Talarico is someone who is saying Christians should follow the teachings of Christ,” Fugelsang said.
Talarico says Jesus is nonbinary, is not the only way to God, and that atheists are more Christ-like than some Christians.
Meanwhile, at the same convention Cruz spoke at, Robert Jeffress, senior pastor of First Baptist Dallas, condemned Democrats, especially Talarico, of being “advocates for sin,” says AFN.
He further talked about how Talarico’s views are “blasphemous” and “evil.”
Curtis Houck, managing editor of NewsBusters at Media Research Center, says Fugelsang and the rest of the MS Now panel have no credibility when it comes to what Christians believe.
“It's interesting, of course, that these people who clearly aren't Christians want to weigh in on Christianity, and they're then able to make proclamations about Christianity,” Houck states.
The host the of “The 11th Hour,” Ali Velshi, also happens to be a practicing Muslim.
Houck says the misrepresentation of Christ and his followers is no accident.
“Claiming that extreme fundamentalist Muslims, Jews and Christians are all the same, it's a fundamental misunderstanding and a purposeful one at that,” Houck says.
