A pro-life group is sounding the alarm on two bills in the Kentucky legislature.

On February 3, Kentucky Right to Life sent out a an update when, at the time, the Kentucky General Assemlby entered into its fourth week. In the announcement, they posted a list legislative priorities for 2026 along with the bills they support and oppose, calling constituents to action and contact their state representative and senators.

The pro-life organization said that HB 476 and HB 549 represent significant threats to life-affirming protections and to the community-based organizations that serve women and families across the commonwealth.

Addia Wuchner is a former state legislator and the executive director of Kentucky Right to Life.

"HB476 was filed by Representative Daniel Grossberg (D-Louisville), and he's proposing basically a constitutional amendment which he calls reproductive freedom," says Wuchner. "It would strip away protections that we have here in Kentucky and our pro-life laws, and it's just really trying to affirm abortion into our constitution."

Meanwhile, HB 549 is from Representative Sarah Stalker (D-Louisville) and requires pregnancy resource centers to be licensed.

"This has been attempted a couple times over the last few years. It proposes to regulate and license our pregnancy care centers, which most of them are faith-based,” says Wuchner.

These pregnancy care centers, she says, are nonprofits and ministries that provide compassionate assistance for women who find themselves with an unplanned or untimed pregnancy.

"This would put an undue burden on our pregnancy centers, and if we begin licensing then we actually go down that road of having government involvement more and more," states Wuchner.

She says that it is an important time to pray over these situations. She also requests that people pray for lawmakers.

"Pray that God will continue to illuminate the path and the choices that they make that affirm life and make the right decisions that that support families here in the Commonwealth of Kentucky," said Wuchner.
