Zionism is defined as the nationalist, ideological, and political movement that advocates for the self-determination and statehood of the Jewish people in their ancestral homeland, Israel.
Luke Moon founded Generation Zion to build a new Zionist generation in which Christians and Jews come together in mutual support for Israel.
He recently told "Washington Watch" that the goal is to equip Gen Z students to run for leadership positions in prominent conservative organizations, thereby preventing anti-Israel factions from gaining a foothold and shaping campus discourse.
Tony Perkins, president of Family Research Council and host of "Washington Watch," called it a good idea during a time of growing antisemitism, particularly on college campuses.
"We're finding this among the ranks of so-called conservatives and Republicans," he noted.
Moon agreed, adding that he was concerned in recent months "because nobody was even willing to call out Tucker Carlson for his antisemitism."
With his organization countering that, Moon feels optimistic.
"We have more and more people who are speaking up and speaking out about this issue on the right," he said.
Generation Zion will train students who want to run for their College Republicans or Turning Point USA chapters how to do campaigns, how to message well, how to do social media, "how to win," said Moon.
"Basically, we're going to box out the Groypers (a group often identified by antisemitism) so that not only do I not have to fight them at AmFest and CPAC, but it means in five years, I don't have to fight them when they're running for city council, or a mayor's race, or even a congressional race," Moon explained.
"Groypers" (or the "Groyper Army") is a far-right movement of internet trolls and political activists named after a cartoon toad meme who seek to push mainstream conservatism further to the right. They are strongly anti-Israel and typically reject Zionism as a political ideology, often portraying it in conspiratorial or hostile terms.
From July 31 to Aug. 4, Generation Zion will have an exclusive leadership summit in Washington, D.C., preparing the next generation of conservative, pro-Israel leaders for impact on campus and beyond.
"We need allies, and we need tools to be able to fight them, and we're getting both," Moon said.
