Maureen Galindo hoped to win Tuesday's runoff for the Democrat nomination in the open 35th Congressional District in Texas. However, Fox News reports she lost to Bexar County Sheriff's Office official Johnny Garcia in the San Antonio-area district created by Republican redistricting.
Democrats are distancing themselves from Galindo, who suggested turning a current ICE facility into a "prison for American Zionists and former ICE officers."
Even worse than that suggestion, she said the facility should be a "castration processing center for pedophiles which will probably be most of the Zionists"
Even New York Reps. Hakeem Jeffries and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortex condemned her hateful speech.
Democrats backed Garcia because he is more moderate candidate, unlike Galindo who was viewed as a liability to win the Republican redrawn district.
Gary Bauer is the chairman of the Campaign for Working Families, who served on the board of Christians United for Israel. He briefly mentioned Galindo’s loss in CWF’s “End of Day Report,” saying she won 36% of the vote.
"She was saying that she would put Christians that support Israel, and Jews that support Israel, into the detention centers that were built for illegal migrants. She went so far as to say she thought they should be castrated while they're there,” Bauer says.
Considering her comments, he told American Family News he was surprised she got as many votes as she did.
“The amazing thing to me is — and the disturbing thing is — I think she got nearly 40% of votes in that Democrat primary. What is wrong with that party?" Bauer asks.
While Democrats find Galindo's comments too extreme, Bauer says they still support candidates who are antisemitic.
"(Who are) saying they will cut off all military aid to Israel, that it's okay to march through the streets of our cities chanting death to the Jews and radical Islam is a perfectly acceptable philosophy," Bauer states.
He says Democrats are only giving a specific demographic a reason not to vote for them.
“The party is almost, every day, abandoning any reason why a believing Jew or Christian would want to vote for them as they embrace these radical Islamic candidates running for Senate and multiple House races all over America," Bauer says.
