Knight: Trump has to take action against Iran

A conservative columnist shares the concerns of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu over President Donald Trump's apparent changing stance on Iran.

Reports say the Israeli leader is spooked about Trump's praise of "very good talks" with Iran. In today's meeting at the White House Netanyahu hopes to stiffen Trump's resolve and impress upon his U.S. counterpart that any deal must curb ballistic missiles as well as Tehran's nuclear ambitions. Trump has assembled an impressive armada within striking distance of the regime, after pledging to the beleaguered Iranian people that help is on the way. But now Trump has backed off leading some observers to believe he is chickening out.

"Given that the Lincoln Strike Force could lend a huge hand to the people trying to overthrow the Iranian regime, it could be a matter of days before something happens. I'd like to think President Trump is playing four-level chess with the Iranians, supposedly negotiating yet another treaty, but really preparing for regime change."

Knight says the people of Iran have been suffering terribly with thousands dying in the protests.

"And even with that protests are springing up again. That's how brave these people are. They need some help. President Trump said he would help them if the Iranian regime started killing people and they did, so if only to show that his word is solid and dependable, he's going to have to do something kinetic. He's going to have to deploy forces in the service of regime change in Iran."
