The last two years in Israel have been difficult, from the massacre of more than 1,200 Israelis on Oct. 7, 2023, to the war in Gaza, to Iran sending over 1,000 ballistic missiles into the country and the war with Hezbollah.
In the midst of all this the Jewish people remain strong.
Avi Mizrachi (pictured right with wife Chaya) is the head of Dugit Outreach Ministries in Israel.
“Dugit Outreach Ministries desires to see the nation of Israel embrace Yeshua as Messiah and come into her destiny,” the group states on its website. “We do this by fostering relationships through outreach, events, and prayer. For over 30 years, we have been sharing the Good News of Messiah in Israel.
“In Hebrew “Dugit” means small fishing boat. We believe God has called us to be fishers of men in our city, nation, and the world. As Jewish believers we believe that we have been restored to our land and our inheritance.”
Mizrachi says Israel has prospered in spite of its many challenges.
“Every time that they declared war they tried to eliminate us, and we ended up taking more land. So, maybe it’s a good formula that we should have a war all the time,” he joked. “We’ll get land until we get all the land that God promised to the people of Israel.”
Mizrachi is perplexed by why so many want to take so much from a country so small.
“The Arab countries, the Muslim countries have so much land, and you ask yourself, ‘why are they so concerned about this tiny country … like the state of New Jersey (in size)?’” he asked.
“All I have to say is this: Israel is a beautiful country. We want to live in peace. We just live in a bad neighborhood.”
