Evangelical ambassador finds support among Jews in Israel

Mike Huckabee says he is delighted at how the Jewish people of Israel have been so supportive of an evangelical Christian serving as the U.S. ambassador to Israel.

During his Senate confirmation hearing, Huckabee offered no apologies for his strong support of the Jewish state and pledged "to carry out the president's priorities, not mine."

President Trump nominated Huckabee, an unabashed evangelical Christian and unapologetic supporter of Israel, to take on the critical post in Jerusalem days after Trump won reelection on a campaign promise to end the war in Gaza. Huckabee posted on X a video about his first hundred days, saying he was proud of what has been accomplished.

During an interview on American Family Radio, Huckabee discussed his appointment to the important post.

"Frankly, when the president asked me to do it, I was concerned that there would be people to say ‘he's not qualified to be the ambassador to Israel he's not Jewish.’ Much to my delight, Jewish people, both in the US and in Israel, have been the most supportive, even among secular Jews," says Huckabee.

Huckabee says he has a deep appreciation that his Christian faith is built entirely on the foundation of Judaism.

"Without the Jewish faith, without God's revelation through the Jewish people, God chose the people. He chose a place, He chose a purpose, and without that, my own faith wouldn't exist,” says Huckabee. “So, it's easy for me as a Bible believer to understand and even to explain why I am a supporter of the Jewish people and of the state of Israel."
