Israel faces ICC charges and France's recognition of Palestinian state

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has had it in for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and France's president now shows recognition to Palestinian a state.

A three-judge panel of that body showed antisemitic tendencies in reporting Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to the court's oversight organization for failing to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when he visited Budapest in April. In fact, the Israeli leader received a red-carpet welcome from Orbán during a state visit, in defiance of an ICC arrest warrant.

Netanyahu is charged by ICC with crimes against to humanity because of the Israel-Hamas war. However, Israel is not a member of the court and staunchly rejects the charges.

Benjamin Baird is a spokesman for the Middle East Forum, that works on advancing American interests in the Middle East.

"This is a highly politicized antisemitic organization that is using the power of some global courts – that really shouldn't even exist – to go after its political enemies. I think that countries around the world just need to stop recognizing it as any sort of authority on any international judicial matters at all,” Baird says.

He is not pleased that French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that his country recognizes a Palestinian State.

"I think we need to respond in some way. That's absolutely a problem. The more countries that do that, it just gives credibility to the PA (Palestinian Authority), it gives credibility to Hamas, groups like that, and there's no reason why a European power, a U.S. ally, should recognize a Palestinian state."

President Donald Trump has responded saying what Macron says doesn't matter. Meanwhile, Secretary of State Marco Rubio condemned the French president in an X post, stating that this was a reckless decision and the United States rejects his plan.
