Members of the National Education Association (NEA) voted to sever ties with the Anti-Defamation Group (ADL), a civil rights organization that defends Israel. This decision was made at their 2025 Representative Assembly in Portland Oregon because of the war in Gaza.
While the proposal was adopted, it is deemed as a “sanctioned item.” Therefore, it is automatically referred to the NEA Executive Committee.
The purpose of the proposal is for ADL material on Jewish hate, the Holocaust, etc. will no longer be used by the union. Schools can still use ADL material; however, conflict can arise between school districts and NEA unions.
"We will not be cowed for supporting Israel, and we will not be deterred from our work reaching millions of students with educational programs every year,” the ADL said.
The NEA's decision was applauded by the radical pro-Islamic terrorist group the Council on American Islamic Relations or CAIR.
Gary Bauer is chairman of the Campaign for Working Families, who served as an Under Secretary of Education in the Reagan administration.
"There is a concerted, well-organized, powerful effort underway by various left-wing groups to basically steal the hearts and minds of America's children. There's just absolutely no doubt about it, and it goes across a wide range of issues but certainly this issue of teaching hatred of Jews and promoting antisemitism,” Bauer says.
Bauer, who has served on the board of Christians United for Israel, says the NEA wants to brainwash kids very early, and it is happening all over the country.
"It used to be just in the universities, but now they're very open about the fact that they want to get your kid when he's in the first grade and make sure that he gets that hate in him early. It's a national scandal. The teachers’ union should be persona non grata in the Democrat Party, but instead it is one of the most powerful forces that the National Democrat Party relies on to get out their vote,” explains Bauer.
