Friday will mark a quarter of a century since Islamic terrorists crashed four airplanes in the biggest terrorist attack in U.S. history. More than 3,000 Americans perished that day. And while many Americans weren't even alive on that fateful day, others can vividly remember what they were doing.
Gary Bauer, chairman of the Campaign for Working Families, was in a traffic jam near the Pentagon.
“I was going ironically into Washington to be with other conservative leaders and Christian leaders to hold a press conference on the dangers of radical Islam. I never made it to that press conference,” Bauer says.
Instead, he was in a traffic jam which had trapped his car right off of an exit that was just yards away from the Pentagon when the hijacked plane crashed into the side of the building.
“Obviously, we were all affected deeply by 9/11, but I felt it in a very personal way, and I find out later that friends of mine died both on that plane and also in the Pentagon,” Bauer states.
Therefore, he says it is deeply depressing, puzzling and bizarre what has changed in America 25-years later.
A Pew Research Center article said that today’s view of Islam is more politically polarized. After the 9/11 attack, 32% of Republicans and Independents and only 23% of Democrat would say Islam encouraged violence. Today, that has changed to 76% of Republicans and independents and only 29% Democrats.
“After being attacked by radical Islamists, the nation ended up deciding that what America really needed was the mass migration of Muslims into America from countries that produced the people that attacked us on 9/11,” Bauer states.
According to The National Pulse, within the first two years of President Joe Biden’s terms, he let in over 70,000 illegal immigrants from Muslim countries. Migration Policy Institute reports that in the federal fiscal year 2024 (FY 2024) 42% of the resettled refugees were Muslim.
Meanwhile, out of the 798,00 refugees from FY 2010 through FY 2024, 283,000 were Muslim.
Pew Research said there are around 5.5 million Muslims in the country today.
Bauer says our nation was founded on the Judeo-Christian values of the God of the Bible, not Allah.
