‘Banned Book Week,’ an LGBTQ celebration, is coming up in October

Leftists will be recognizing “Banned Book Week” Oct. 5-11, but a conservative activist says there are ways parents can push back.

Linda Harvey of Mission America notes liberal school librarians will use the week to promote LGBTQ-themed books and graphic novels, all of which are age-inappropriate for students.

“With Banned Books Week moving into October, which is routinely observed by many schools as LGBTQ History Month, it shows exactly where the American Library Association’s Affiliation and priority is,” Harvey said.

LGBTQ History Month is chosen for October because it already includes National Coming Out Day on Oct. 11 and aligns with the academic calendar.

The goal, organizers say, is to celebrate and teach LGBTQ+ history, highlight role models, and recognize the contributions of LGBTQ+ people to society.

Harvey says there are things parents can do to push back against this profusion of propaganda of immoral lifestyles.

Many school exhibits will include materials on abortion and gender transition. She recommends parents contact the school administration and board of education to express their concerns.

“Parents need to stroll through the school, stroll through the library, take pictures. We want pictures at Mission America of how schools are observing this. The library displays will be your big trigger to know that you’ve got a left-wing progressive librarian,” Harvey said.
