Philadelphia raising communist flag is abomination, says CCP critic

A staunch critic of Communist China says it was an abomination that the city of Philadelphia honored the founding of that enemy state earlier this week.

As previously reported on AFN, on Tuesday the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) flag flew in front of the Philadelphia city hall. Sponsored by an organization called the Pennsylvania United Chinese Coalition, the decision was aimed at improving the CCP's reputation within America as part of a cultural exchange. Despite considerable backlash Mayor Cherelle Parker refused to reconsider.

According to Daily Mail, John Moolenaar, the Chairman of the House Select Committee on the CCP, led the outrage as he released an open letter to Parker this week urging her to reconsider the ceremony.

“Raising the national flag of another country on U.S. soil through an official act is a powerful symbol,” the letter read.

Moolenaar warned Parker about the dangerous precedent raising another nation’s flag could set — misrepresented support of that nation’s actions and values. Furthermore, he said that the “Five-Star Red Flag” of the CCP represents a totalitarian government that persecutes spiritual people of all faiths.

Chang, Gordon (author, commentator) Chang

Gordon Chang is a senior fellow at the Gatestone Institute and author of “Plan Red: China's Project to Destroy America.”

"It is an abomination that the city of Philadelphia raised a flag of the People's Republic of China to mark the anniversary of the founding of that enemy state. This is wrong," states Chang.

Chang says that the city explained they were just trying to celebrate cultural diversity of the Chinese.

"If that's the case, they shouldn't be flying the flag of the Communist Party. This is the flag that was raised over Beijing in October of 1949. It is meant to symbolize the takeover of communism. Philadelphia is the City of Brotherly Love. It's the city of the U.S. Constitution, of Independence Hall, of American Liberty. This is just wrong on every count," concludes Chang.
