As reported on AFN, the FBI and the Department of Justice have launched a federal investigation into the brutal beatings in downtown Cincinnati last week that left several people injured, including a woman who was knocked unconscious. Video of the violence revealed that the perpetrators are black and the victims are white.

During an appearance on Fox News, Senator Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) slammed local leaders for their handling of the case.

"This is what political leaders in Cincinnati are allowing," he exclaimed. "Cincinnati is an amazing city made by great people over decades – centuries, actually. It's one of the shining jewels of Ohio – and these idiotic political leaders that the citizens allow to have office need to go."

The GOP lawmaker vows to call on all federal agencies to review the funding provided to Cincinnati if those local officials don't take steps to protect the residents of the city.

Moreno, Sen. Bernie (R-Ohio) Moreno

"I'm giving the leaders of Cincinnati one month to come up with a plan for them to protect civil rights for their citizens. And if they don't do it," he continued, "I'm going to ask these agencies to suspend all federal funding because we're not going to put up with this."

According to the senator, the city is down 200 police officers, the police chief might blame social media, and a city council member blamed the victim.

"The mayor went to a misfit mayor's conference and then took a vacation to Canada – and hasn't been back in town since then," Moreno added. "This is a total travesty. I'm not going to put up with it. Ohio deserves better. Cincinnati certainly does, too."

Fox News reported today that even though upwards of 100 people witnessed the beatdown, only one person took the initiative to call the 911 operator – after the fighting had ceased.
