The Kilted Mermaid was hosting a drag show with “adult, sexualized performers in front of children" last month in violation of Florida's new Protection of Children Act. State Attorney General James Uthmeier is opening up an investigation which could result in fines and possibly the loss of the restaurant's liquor license.
Florida resident Jenna Ellis of Jenna Ellis in the Morning on AFR says she expects nothing less from the attorney general.
“Attorney General James Uthmeier is not playing around, and he's taking very seriously the law that was signed by Governor DeSantis in 2023 to protect children,” Ellis comments.
Florida’s Protection of Children Act established consequences to establishments if they allow children into “adult live performances.”
She says it should be a fairly easy case for Uthmeier, but not every attorney general would be so strong.

“If you have these blue states that are all for child mutilation, the LGBTQ mafia agenda, those children are not protected in the same ways that children who live in red states are,” explains Ellis.
She's calling for federal legislation modeled on the Florida law so every child is protected. It's a shame, however, that the laws are needed at all.
“This is, in a word, evil. And that's exactly what they're doing, trying to desensitize children so that, when they get older and they are making decisions for themselves and for what their marriages and families look like, these options are on the table,” Ellis concludes.
