After a prominent Muslim leader’s sermon about spreading Islam in America went viral online, a Christian teacher and prophecy expert says our Christian nation is the target of a slow but determined takeover from faithful Muslims.

In the video, Florida-based imam Muhammad Musri is preaching to an audience of fellow Muslims who are listening to his first-hand report from Florida. In a clip of the sermon, Musri describes how Islam is spreading in Florida and will eventually convert The Sunshine State.

“We bought three churches so far, and now we have one we are buying with a school,” Musri, speaking  English, informs the audience.

Explaining why that matters, the imam says the West “invaded” Muslim countries a century ago, and turned its Islamic schools and mosques into “missionary schools” to spread Christianity.

“Today, we bring the favor back,” Musri, speaking calmly, says, “and turned their churches into mosques.”

The controversial imam made the comments in 2024 to an audience of fellow Muslims in San Francisco, according to the watchdog group MEMRI*.

Thanks to the reach of the Internet, Musri’s comments – and his message about Islam conquering Christianity – have gone viral on social media.

The watchdog group, which has flagged other clips of Musri's sermons, says he currently leads the Islamic Society of Central Florida.

AFN also found an X post in which Musri led a prayer, in 2020, to the Florida legislature.

The fast-growing spread of Islam, and the anti-Western culture it brings with it, are well-known to Minnesota-based Bible teacher Jan Markell.

Markell, who leads Olive Tree Ministries, has witnessed Islam dramatically change her own state going back to the 1990s, when native-born Somalis began moving there. That population, which is now about 83,000, is centered around the state’s Twin Cities and represents the largest Somali population in the United States.

“I think what's going on,” Markell tells AFN, “is probably what they call ‘civilization jihad,’ because they're trying to turn parts of America, turn it into Somalia.”

Minnesota's Somali population is credited with the election of Ilhan Omar, the Somali-born congresswoman, who represents the state's 5th Congressional District.

Rep. Omar was most recently recently in the news for cursing a reporter for The Daily Caller. In February, Omar was caught advising illegal aliens in her district how to avoid deportation.

Even though many Muslims might insist they want to practice their faith in peace, and in private, Musri’s message carries a starkly different tone. Not only does he view converting a church to a mosque and school like revenge for the past, but he also views non-Muslims, including children, as future converts to Islam.

“People who are part of that community, one day they will be Muslims,” Musri states.

Markell calls that an invasion, rather than conversion, and she says Americans are an easy target because of our culture that embraces diversity and inclusion.

"I kind of think this as a bit of a losing battle," she warns. "If we could get the gospel to them, everything would change if they could embrace the gospel."
