Instead, Bondi and Republican senators made mention of several incidents during the Biden presidency where his Justice Department seemed to target conservatives.
“They were playing politics with law enforcement powers and will go down as a historic betrayal of public trust,” Bondi said of the Biden Justice Department. “This is the kind of conduct that American people’s faith in our law enforcement system. We will work to earn that back every single day.”
Republicans pointed to revelations from a day earlier that the Biden FBI spied on the phone records of several Republican lawmakers as part of its attempted legal actions against Trump
“This is an outrage, an unconstitutional breach and ought to be immediately addressed by you and Director Patel,” Sen. Chuck Grassley, the Republican chairman of the committee, told Bondi, referring to FBI Director Kash Patel.
GOP Senator, Ted Cruz, also demanded Bondi continue the investigation into who leaked the draft of the Supreme Court decision on Dobbs which overturned Roe v Wade.
Cruz also wants an investigation into why the Biden Justice Department didn't charge the protesters outside the homes of conservative Supreme Court justices in the wake of that leak.
