Basically, if approved by the Cabinet, Israel would aim to take complete control of the Gaza area and end the rule of the Hamas terrorists.
Asked in an interview with Fox News if Israel would “take control of all of Gaza,” Prime Minister Netanyahu replied: “We intend to, in order to assure our security, remove Hamas there, enable the population to be free of Gaza, and to pass it to civilian governance that is not Hamas and not anyone advocating the destruction of Israel." The Security Cabinet would still need to approve such a decision.
On October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorists massacred more than 1200 Israeli men, women and children and then abducted 251 others. Some of the hostages have been released and some have died in captivity. Israel estimates that about 20 of the hostages are still alive and the bodies of another 30 remain in the hands of the terrorists.
